ACF Announces JUMPSTART initiative!

Another Child is blessed to tell you that the doors to another school year will soon be opening for over 140 children at the Point of Hope Development Center in Tarneveni, Romania. In 2007 we started with 25 pre-school children and because of supporters like you we are blessed to be able to serve over 140 children, from ages 3 to 16. God has entrusted these precious children into our care and we take this responsibility seriously.  Twelve of the 140 children will be our new 3 year-old preschoolers. In addition to the 2 warm meals, health care, Christian education and daily hygiene we also open the door to a NEW preschool development playroom for our preschoolers to enjoy. However, this blog post is to ask for your partnership in a NEW program.

The Jumpstart initiative is designed to have people like yourself engage into a life-changing experience with a child by "jump-starting" their preschool education. This short-term commitment of $20 per month for 10 months will enable us to enroll these children into the Point of Hope school on September 12. Our goal is to get each of these children at least one new Jumpstart donor that will be committed to praying and sending holiday and birthday cards to their Jumpstart child during the school year.

We ask that you prayerfully consider becoming part of the solution to children who live on the verge of abandonment in Romania struggle with this overwhelming fear and often feel unlovable and worthless.  The Point of Hope Development Center was designed to specifically do address this issue!

Your involvement will provide essential and vital school supplies, clothing, food and other support these children desperately need. If you are interested in becoming part of the Jumpstart initiative you will need to email ACF at the following email address director@anotherchild.org. We will be releasing the names and pictures of the children in the coming days. So stay tuned!

Breaking through Barriers August UPDATE!

Last year we made the decision to complete the renovation of the third floor of the Point of Hope Development Center. This capital campaign was called "Breaking through Barriers" and had the purpose of renovating the remaining class-rooms into life-skill development rooms. This was a large under-taking due to the remaining rooms were completely stripped of anything with any value. All of the wiring and wood had been stripped from the walls when the building sat abandoned for several years. Well the renovation has rendered its first completed room!

The donors who have made the Breaking through Barriers campaign a reality need to be recognized for their generous hearts! Thanks to each of you for your support of this project.

The rooms are now ready to be have the furnishings purchased and moved in. With much of the staff taking the month on August off the activity on the 3rd floor of the Point of Hope has been limited. However, as September cranks up a lot of work will be done so that the rooms are ready to be used by the children by the time school opens. It is our goal to have these ready by September 12. We will be posting many more pictures as the rooms become complete.

The end results will be magnificent! The 140 children we serve on a daily basis will have access to a preschool play area for those times when playing outside are not conducive, a wood-working classroom, and sewing/fabrics classroom, and a cooking classroom. These 4 new rooms along with a new restroom will give our children a chance to develop some valuable life-skills needed to survive in their environments.

ACF is so very thankful to ALL of our supporters for their commitment to these children. Thank you, thank you and thank you!  We do still have a need for some additional support to come in to complete these rooms. So if you want to make a donation towards the final $3500 you can do that by clicking the link below.

Prayers for our friends in Lafayette Louisiana

Dear Friends,

Thank you so much for the prayers during the South Louisiana Flood over this past weekend.  We are all beginning to dry out and the waters in many areas have receded.  Thankfully Nancy and I did not have water in our home, but many of our friends and church members here in Lafayette have been devastated by the rising waters.  Today, FBC Lafayette is working to help hundreds that have been hit hard.   We rest assured in our the provision of our great God!  Isaiah 43:2 "I will be with you when you pass through the waters, and when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you."

The One Voice Christmas Concert!!

Friends...Another Child Foundation will be supporting and participating in a great event this Christmas season in the Quad Cities. Below is an email from the One Voice Coordinator Brenda Schaefer. If you would like to be part of this exciting event please contact Brenda. Her contact info is at the bottom of this post. I know they are looking for more volunteers to make this the best event in the Quad Cities during the Christmas season.

Dear friends-

I hope that you are well!

The Quad Cities Prayer Center (QCPC) has been planning a community Christmas outreach to the Quad Cities, called ONE VOICE that will be at the i-WIRELESS Center on Dec. 16 and 17.  We have invited several churches and ministries to partner with us, and so far we have 22 that have said yes and there will be some that will participate!  KWQC has approached us and will be co-sponsoring this event with the QCPC!  WDLM and Chick-fil-a will  also be involved in helping to get the word out!  The mission for ONE VOICE is:

“ONE VOICE utilizes praise, prayer and training to unify the local church by sharing the Gospel to the community through an annual Christmas celebration.”

For those of you who remember the days of Creative Christmas, you will recall that it takes a great number of volunteers to do something like this and that is why I wanted to personally invite you to attend a ONE VOICE Info Meeting.   At this meeting, you will hear the heart and the how of this outreach and find a place to serve that suits your interests, gifts and talents!  Each of these meetings will be held at the Quad Cities Prayer Center in North Park Mall (Sears Court) in the Family Room-you may enter from the parking lot, through the doors under the yellow canopy next to Sears facing Kimberly Rd.  The following are the dates that we have scheduled and hope that one of them works for you:

Monday               August 8              6:30 pm
Tuesday               August 16            6:30 pm

Another Child Foundation provides humanitarian aid to our Romania partner (Fundatia Buckner) to improve the living conditions and well-being of the families and children God has entrusted to us. Through these support drives we demonstrate the love that God has put onto our hearts to transform the hearts of those less fortunate. By joining ACF in gathering humanitarian aid you are making a difference in the lives of children in Romania. ACF is committed to meeting the spiritual, physical, and emotional needs of children. By helping us meet these needs, hopefully you have gained a sense of satisfaction of knowing you changed the life of a child.

It is the vision of ACF to provide unequaled educational programs and spiritual growth opportunities that provide HOPE for children and families in Romania. We strive to be a respected organization that inspires others to promote healthy families of the people in Romania.

Another Child Foundation does have one immediate need. ACF is still $1400 short of the needed funds to send this container to Romania without dipping into our emergency fund. Can you help? Every dollar we collect from you today will get us closer to our goal.
