Do Something BOLD!

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.               Acts 4:31

Do Something Bold! Go on a mission trip!  You can share (and receive) the love of Jesus Christ with orphans and at-risk kids this year, just like Kayla Vincent did.

Whenever Kayla looks at the smiley face sticker on the back of her cell phone, she is reminded of the connection she made with Maria on her recent trip to Romania.  Whenever Maria noticed that Kayla was not smiling, she would grab Kayla’s cheeks and pull them up into a smile. Maria would declare, “You should always smile!”  That’s when the unforced smiles would form on both Kayla and Maria.  It was moments like that when Kayla realized the change the children were making in her.  As Maria and Kayla were saying their farewell’s, Maria placed the smiley face sticker on Kayla’s cell phone and got on the bus.  When Kayla looked up at Maria through the bus window she could see that Maria was not smiling.  Kayla pointed to the sticker on her phone, pulled either side of her own cheeks upward into a smile, and a smile effortlessly appeared on Maria’s face.  Kayla mouthed the words, “You should always smile.”

Mission trips are transforming not only for the children served, but for those serving.  Do Something Bold!

The focus of this team will be the delivery of humanitarian aid and the distribution of shoes collected during the Project Respond throughout the United States this summer. ACF will give every team member a great overview of the entire ministry being done in Romania. ACF will also give each team member the honor of putting new shoes and socks onto the feet of an orphan or at-risk child. It is an honor and privilege to perform the Christ-like act.  The team will visit many different children families, and ministries throughout the Targu-Mures region of Romania. The team will also perform a Vacation Bible School to each group of children receiving aid.  Finally, the team will enjoy the natural beauty of Romania as the team gets the chance to do some first-rate sightseeing of the country's natural scenery and historical sights.

Progress at the Point of Hope!

Here is the latest encouraging news from Romania. With the text of this graphic being a little difficult to read let me describe that to you here.

Only with the constant help and financial support of ACF's supporters. Fundatia Buckner is able to help needy children grow and develop, discover their potential and reach good results. Thanks to ACF Buckner can help change the lives of the children, their families and influence their community.

The stair-steps also show the exceptional results we are seeing for the children in the public school system. 6 of the 17 children in the first grade are doing EXCEPTIONAL! This means 35% of the kids who attend the Point of Hope Center are doing incredible work. However this also means that the other children are doing very well too. As you can see very similar results are happening in the second, third, and forth grades as well. The social worker assigned to these children are simply in awe of the results she is seeing for these children. It is a dream come true for this community. Meet Adelin from the Point of Hope

Adelin at the Point of Hope
Adelin Baies was born on June 23rd, 2011 in Tarnaveni, and he has been coming to Point of  Hope since September 2014, this being his first year in any educational facility.

Adelin was born into a legally established family and he has an older sibling who is 7.  The family lives in a one room apartment they rent from the authorities.  The room is properly furbished, they have electricity and heating agent, while they get their water from the neighborhood well.  The regular income of the family consists of child support from the government and some social aid.  Adelin’s parents are unemployed but they try to find day jobs especially in agriculture.  However, the parents are involved in the children’s education and are interested in Adelin’s evolution and well-being.

The first few days he came to Point of Hope Adelin cried for his mother but eventually he was able to adapt to the program.  He is shy in relation with the adults, but he loves being with other children.  He is now the one who encourages other children to play and helps them when they are sad and wanting to go home.  Adelin has a short attention span and is easily distracted during class activities but we hope to be able to help him learn and be everything he can be.

The sponsorship of a child through Another Child Foundation is surprisingly simple, and the effects your sponsorship will have on a child is dramatic. Supporting an at-risk child in one of our 2 programs enables our staff members to not only provide for their educational & physical needs, but will provide HOPE for the child as the staff mentors the child. By providing the LOVE of God to the child, the child’s self-esteem will soar as they develop into the person God has created them to be. Without the assistance of generous people these children will continue to live in the “darkness” they we born into. To learn more about Child Sponsorship CLICK HERE.

Project Respond 2015

Our desire is not that others might be relieved while you are hard pressed, but that there might be equality. At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn  their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality as it is written; “he who gathered much will not have too much and he who gathered little will  not have too little.”        2 Corinthians 8:13-15

In partnership with Shoe for Orphan Souls- Another Child Foundation collected nearly 14,000 pairs of new shoes, socks, and other humanitarian aid items throughout the U.S. to send to orphans and vulnerable children in Romania during the Project Respond drive in 2014.

This year we need churches and businesses to come together for this community wide event and help collect 3,000 pairs of new shoes in the area for children in desperate need in our world.

Another Child will also be collecting other humanitarian aid such as school supplies and underwear to send with the shoes.

Your help is needed! Consider being a part of our 6th annual Project Respond aid drive. Last year ACF was able to fill a 40' shipping container with over 350 large boxes of humanitarian aid. Those boxes contained over 13,000 items.

This year it is our goal to collect 3,000 pairs of new athletic shoes, along with 1,000 pairs of new winter boots, 10,000 pairs of boy's & girl's underwear and school supplies for 200 children.

Meet Valentin & Lorena from the Point of Hope Development Center

Valentine Stef
Valentin Stef, was born on April 10, 2010 in Tarnaveni.  He attends the oldest age group at the Point of Hope Center's pre-school program. Valentin lives with his parents and his 10 year old brother.  His parents are legally married, they both work in and electrical wiring factory and they own their 3 room house.
Valentin is a very outgoing boy and he was able to adjust very quickly to the Point of Hope Development Center's environment even though he started attending when he was only 2 years and 7 months old.  He is very attached to his teacher.  In spite of the fact that he is one of the youngest children in his group, his work is pretty good.  He is able to fill out certain work sheets without any assistance.  He wants to become a fire fighter or to be part of the Special Forces.

Lorena Kerecedi
Lorena Kercedi was born in 2010, July 7th.  She is the Kercedi’s 6th child and she has 6 more siblings: 3 boys and 3 girls. Lorena lives with her parents and siblings in a one room apartment which is property of the local authorities.  The room is furbished, they have electricity and a fire stove which they use for cooking and heating.  They get their water from the nearby water pump.
The family’s regular income consists of child support from the government which amounts up to about 218 USD/month.  The mother is a stay home mom, while the father works in construction but he is not legally employed.
Lorena started coming to Point of Hope in September of 2014.  She is a well behaved little girl, but she is also very determined and even stubborn. She adjusted quickly to the Point of Hope Center’s environment.  She is very active and shows much interest during activities.  She takes her time with her work, but she colors beautifully and neatly, and she is detail oriented.  She has a good memory and she receives support from her parents who are interested in her education.

Linda Charlet and Tammy Joyce receive funds from
 ACF Executive Director Tim Oloffson
Another Child Foundation was pleased to be able to pass on a blessing they received from the 2014 10K Bushel Project to the Cambridge Backpack Blessings organization in Cambridge, Illinois. The Cambridge organization is another group that works on behalf of at-risk children that received funds from the 2014 project.

The Cambridge Backpack Blessings program provides around 320 nutritious, kid-friendly food bags for children  who live in "food insecure" households in the Cambridge school district each month. Tammy Joyce and Linda Charlet head up the program in Cambridge and have a big heart for helping these vulnerable children.
